Barbados is an island in the Caribbean, northeast of Venezuela. It has a population of nearly 280,000 people, mostly of African descent. About 80 percent of the population lives in or around the capital, Bridgetown. The population of Barbados is one of the most educated in the world. English is the official language of Barbados, and is used for communications, administration, and public services all over the island. Most barbadians are fun-loving but protective of family, which is taken very serious by them.
