Patriarchy, the social system in which a male is the family head and primary authority, is still very much alive in Cyprus. So, while women work outside the home, it is usually expected that they will fulfill the traditional domestic roles of the housewife and the mother as well. Cypriot men are always trendy when it comes to clothing. They are well-mannered, and will always listen if you need someone to talk to. They are more expressive than most of Western men, but they are considered to be patient, stable, and obliging. Cypriots have very strong family bonds and men are used to being the providers so they make quite good husband material.
The Republic of Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is a member state of the European Union and belongs to the Euro zone too. Official languages are Greek and Turkish; the majority of population is Orthodox followed by Muslim. The landscape consists of mountains, broad plains and narrow coastlands. The climate is Mediterranean, with a cycle of hot, dry summers and rainy winters with brief spring and fall season.
