The Republic of Estonia is the most northerly of the Baltic States and is located in Eastern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland, between Latvia and Russia. It is a mainly flat country on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea, with many lakes and islands. Much of the land is farmed or forested. Climate is maritime with wet, moderate winters and cool summers.
