Your portrait photo is the only photo visible to people who do not click through to your profile, so choose your best photo for your portrait and follow these tips:
- The photo should be high quality – not dark, blurry, out of focus or grainy
- Use a digital camera rather than a Webcam or scanner
- Ask a friend to take your photo instead of using a mirror
- Post a clear, vertical headshot – full face, no sunglasses, recommended with a smile!
To change your portrait photo:
- Login to your account.
- Click on the Profile & Photos tab.
- Click Upload & Manage Photos.
- Click “Set as Portrait” near the photo you want to be your portrait.
Typically your change of portrait photo will be approved within 24 hours, but may take up to 72 hours.
Here are some suggestions for choosing your profile photos:
- Use recent photos – members will want to see you as you will look on your first date.
- Consider having professional photos taken instead of using low-quality camera phone and Webcam photos.
- People are more likely to respond to photos in which you are standing or sitting upright and smiling in front of a nice landscape or background.
- Photos in bathing suits, pajamas or unflattering outfits rarely attract interest. We recommend you dress for your photo as you would for your first date.
- You may want to upload some photos of you in a group, such as with family members, friends or pets, but be sure to post at least one photo of you alone. Do not include a photo with someone of the opposite sex unless you post a caption explaining who the person is.
- A photo showing you doing something you love or visiting an interesting place is a great conversation starter.
Remember – upload photos that show you with a smile!
We recommend that you post up to 10 photos and keep some to exchange privately later on. Currently there is no limit on the number of photos you may post.
