Family is the main focus in life for almost all Malays; as a result there is a great emphasis on unity, loyalty, and respect. They value love and fidelity, respect and obligation, duties and communal assistance, though the main bulk of household work still is the responsibility of the woman. As a people, Malaysians are very relaxed yet culturally conservative. They are generally warm and friendly, and they certainly know how to spoil a woman!
Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. The official language is Malaysian with the majority of the population practicing Islam, and with the second largest religion being Buddhism. Since independence in 1957, Malaysia has had one of the best economic records in Asia. The country is a multi-ethnic, multicultural, and multilingual place with a dynamic mix of the modern world and the traditions of old. The country consists of coastal plains giving rise to hills and mountains farther inland. The climate tends to be quite tropical with regularly occurring monsoons.
