About Me
Single, divorced dad of four. I am ready to start my life over. I have two young kids (12 & 15) at home and two grown (19 & 25) out in the world. Divorced since June 2018.
I was in the military for 11 years but now i am a fulltime sportswriter and after four years as a substitute teacher (high school only, my choice), I taught high school English for three years, but left to teach adult GED. I was a corpsman (medical), which in the navy is pretty equal to a nurse (in civilian world), meaning I could do it all, but didn't have the nursing credentials and certificates when I got out. but I grew tired of the medical field and went back to my love of writing when i got out of the military. I got started with my writing with a paper in California (on and off for six years) that I wrote columns for about my military experiences. since then, i have worked for newspapers in Illinois, Missouri, and now New Mexico. I have been in southeastern New Mexico for almost 10 years.
I love to travel and my time in the military as well as my current profession (sports writer) allows me to do that a lot. I have been to more countries than I can count on my fingers and almost every state in the United States (yes, I have been to Alaska and Hawaii). I have four tattoos, own my house, ride a motorcycle (own three), believe in my right to shoot things with my own guns. The cliche about women collecting shoes and purses? Well that's how I am with my baseball hats. I'm also a sports minded guy who loves the outdoors. Not big into books, but I will read a sports book every now and then. I do enjoy reading the sports page everyday though I tend not to read my own as I read it when I put it together. I enjoy all kinds of music, but prefer country (80s/90s) and oldies (50s/60s) most. I love playing cards when i get together with my family. I do not go to church, but I do consider myself a Christian.
I've learned to do my own cooking over the past several years and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I cooked my first thanksgiving dinner in 2017 all by myself. Ild like to find someone that is willing to accept me and my kids. If you bring kids to the table, even better as we would each understand what the other has going on. If you want children in the future, I'm open to considering it, but I am getting “up there” in the age department. Most of all, I just want to be happy with someone. I'm doing great on my own, but it would be so much better to have someone to talk to and to share things with.
