New Zealanders are largely sophisticated and highly educated urban dwellers. Their country has a diverse population - but with some uniting features that make it unique in the world. A relatively isolated South Pacific location and rugged landscapes make many New Zealanders quietly independent, resourceful and self-reliant. For Kiwis, loyalty to friends and comrades is a prized social value. Men from New Zealand usually are very friendly and outgoing; they enjoy extending hospitality, but wealth and social status are not as important to them.
