Tajiks are, on the whole, very friendly and hospitable. They are also honest in their relationships. Family is the biggest priority for them and it is common that several generations live together under one roof. Tajikistan is very much a country in transition and keep in mind that Islam plays a large role in the daily life of many of its people.
The Republic of Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia that gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The official language is Tajik although Russian is routinely used in business and governmental communication. The majority of the population follows Sunni Islam. 90% percent of Tajikistan territory is mountainous and prone to earthquakes. The country experiences hot summers and mild winters.
