Uzbeks are very gallant men, so be prepared for a man who will always open doors for you, carry your heavy bags, buy you flowers and presents, or anything else you might desire. The Uzbek man will pay for meals when dinning out and, while romancing you, ceaselessly tell you how beautiful you are with all sincerity. They even refrain from making dirty jokes or swearing if you are present! According to centuries-old tradition and the mentality of Uzbek people, family was and is one of the most important priorities in society and, not surprisingly, Uzbekistan is notable for the world's lowest divorce rate. Just keep in mind that the majority of Uzbeks practice Islam and gender roles are quite traditional, with the woman usually being a housewife while the man is a provider.
The Republic of Uzbekistan is the most populous country in central Asia. Islam is by far the dominant religion and the Uzbek language is the only official state language. Uzbekistan culture is very colorful and distinctive; it has been formed over the millennia and has absorbed the many traditions and customs of the various nations that settled on its territory. The physical environment of Uzbekistan is diverse, ranging from the flat, desert topography that comprises almost 80% of the country's territory to the mountainous regions of the east, with some peaks reaching about 4,500 meters above sea level. The country experiences long, hot summers and mild winters.
